2008 NERC Regatta News and Notices

Regatta Dates Changed

The race dates for the two regattas have been change beginning this year. The NERC will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 and the NE Fours will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Changes to Seeding Policy

Phil Carney ( Wesleyan Univ.) will again chair the seeding committee. The rest of the seeding committee will be annouced as soon as they have been selected.

Two results for each entry will now be required for acceptance into the regatta. In addition the results must be against other participants in the regatta. Only results submitted on the QRA results reporting web site will be counted to meet the minimum reporting requirement. See Instructions to Coaches and Coxswains for more information.

Award Committee Established

It was decided to issue two awards annually. The first is the Coach of the Year award. Voting will open on the Monday following the regatta and will close on the next Friday. The winner will be anounced at the ECAC regatta and will be awarded at the next Annual Meeting. It was also decided to present an award recognizing student rower academic excellence. More information to follow on this.

ECAC Announcements

Gary Caldwell announced that payments for ECAC regattas must now be made online through Regatta Central via Credit Card. Preregistration and the request for rosters for upcoming regattas will be available shortly.

John Quinn requested anyone that would be interested in hosting a coxswain's clinic to contact him.

Late or Incomplete Entries

Coaches were reminded that late entries will not be accepted. There will be no exceptions. Any Entries received after the entry deadline (5:00 PM Wednesday, April 23, 2008) will be returned unopened. Coaches were encouraged to send entries in early using the US Postal Service.

Online Race Result Reporting

Any race results sent to us from this site will be posted in the Weekly Race Results section. We recommend using the weekly race results form to be sure your results are posted properly. All results posted will be forwarded to the seeding committee. The 2008 regatta entry package will be available to download in PDF format in early February

Certificates of Insurance

Schools are required to provide the QRA with a Certificate of Insurance. The Certificate must include the following information:

  • "The Quinsigamond Rowing Association, Inc. and The Eastern College Athletic Conference, their officers, directors, trustees, members and volunteers" must be named as an additional insured.
  • Coverage for water craft liability and athletic participation must be indicated on the certificate.

We must receive these by Tuesday, April 1, 2008. They should be mailed to :

Waiver and Release from Liability

A Waiver and Release from Liability form is now completed as part of the registration process through Regatta Central. These forms are still required but are now compiled electronically.
